Carnelian  is  also  an  alternative  birthstone  for  July.
Carnelian  received  its  name  from  Latin  word, Carneus  or  Carnalis  means  “flesh” or “meat”. Which  is  suggestive  of  the  red  color, glossy  texture. Other  said  that  Carnelians named  for  the  Kornel  Cherry  for  its  red  color.
In Indonesia  is  known  as  “meat” stone,  or  “Yaman” stone  for the deep red Carnelian.

Carnelian  is  a  gemstone  that  has  been  mined  for  at  least  2000  years. The  earliest known  source  of  Carnelian  is  in  India. But  other  believe,  previous  to  India, it  was  mined in  the  region  that  is  now Turkey. In  ancient  Rome, often  used  in  cameos  and  intaglios.
